"Wanna go out for some stroopwafels, Darling?" Wylan only stared at him. Jesper met his gaze and for once, he couldn't read the merchling's face. Granted, it wasn't really Wylan's. But even so, he had learned what kind of expressions this version of Wylan made and tied them each to an emotion.
But this time, he wasn't able to pinpoint almost anything. Well, not for a long moment. But then Wylan broke out in a broad grin. It was unnatural for his character, but looked perfectly normal on Kuwei's slightly plumper face. He nodded.

This fic is a revamped version of the Jesper mistaking Kuwei for Wylan kiss scene from Crooked Kingdom near the end of Chapter 24 (and a little of Chapter 28)! Here, it's revamped to fit the show. So main credit goes to Leigh Bardugo and her lovely writing style, of course! Thanks for reading<3!

It’s hard to look intimidating while eating a massive, dripping ice cream, but Jesper Fahey was giving it his best shot. He narrowed his eyes at Wylan, glaring sharpened daggers, but the effect was somewhat ruined by the way his tongue darted out to catch a drop of melting strawberry. On any other day, Wylan would have been captivated by that tongue, long and agile, but today wasn’t the day for distractions. Wylan had a job to do.
