☆ “So,” Beard says when they’re alone in the lounge again, “my folks are headed back to Topeka. Not sure what your plans are, but… do you have an opinion on the Devil’s Lettuce?”
It takes a second, and then Ted beams. “Why, yes I do. This growing boy knows vegetables are good for him.”
With an appreciative laugh, Beard stands up. “So, should we… beet it?”
Ted jumps to his feet, book raised in the air. “Yes!” ☆

~
Sae-byeok doesn't know how to do this. Ji-yeong doesn't either.

☆ Sae-byeok sees arteries running across the train station. Get that man first, that woman second. What if this is part of their plan, getting caught by the police only to-
"Hey," Ji-yeong prompts, grabs her hand. It's very soft. "Are you hungry? You're looking around for the food court?"
Sae-byeok turns her head away from the arteries. Ji-yeong is a silhouette and still brighter than rows and rows of fluorescents. Sae-byeok thinks for a small moment that if veins run through the station, she is looking at her own heart.
She's not sure how to say that, though. It sounds ridiculous. ☆
