☆ “DO YOU EVER FEEL A SUDDEN SENSE OF DEJA VU?” he asks, sounding both a little more like himself and a little less.

“No,” she says, and the feeling of deja vu is overwhelming. ☆

    Summary

Beard’s on his way back to his dorm room, where he plans to spend the rest of his night smoking copious amounts of weed, when his peripheral vision picks up someone in the student lounge. Ted Lasso is sitting alone on one of the couches reading a book, the room otherwise empty.

Or, a 5+1 fic wherein Beard and Ted save each other over their many years of friendship.

☆ “So,” Beard says when they’re alone in the lounge again, “my folks are headed back to Topeka. Not sure what your plans are, but… do you have an opinion on the Devil’s Lettuce?”

It takes a second, and then Ted beams. “Why, yes I do. This growing boy knows vegetables are good for him.”

With an appreciative laugh, Beard stands up. “So, should we… beet it?”

Ted jumps to his feet, book raised in the air. “Yes!” ☆

"-it was always so cold there," she's saying. "and in the game, too. I think your hands are the warmest things I've touched in a while."

Sae-byeok looks at her hands, which should be stained red but aren't. She looks at Ji-yeong, who won't pity her and won't draw knives no matter how hard Sae-byeok pushes her away. "You think my hands are warm."

    ~

Sae-byeok doesn't know how to do this. Ji-yeong doesn't either.

☆ Sae-byeok sees arteries running across the train station. Get that man first, that woman second. What if this is part of their plan, getting caught by the police only to-

"Hey," Ji-yeong prompts, grabs her hand. It's very soft. "Are you hungry? You're looking around for the food court?"

Sae-byeok turns her head away from the arteries. Ji-yeong is a silhouette and still brighter than rows and rows of fluorescents. Sae-byeok thinks for a small moment that if veins run through the station, she is looking at her own heart.

She's not sure how to say that, though. It sounds ridiculous. ☆
