Trusting, Aether sits on the feather-soft mattress with Albedo and listens to a story about a scientist from Khaenri’ah named Rhinedottir and her delving into the mythology of two God-Kings who loved each other to the point of falling from grace.
It’s the 1940s in Mondstadt and the Winter Solstice is just on the horizon. Aether and Albedo have planned a getaway for their first anniversary when a terrible blizzard chokes their car and leaves them stranded.
Luckily, there’s an abandoned house nearby, which they decide to occupy just until the storm is over. They think little of it until Aether finds the notes of a Khaenri’ahn woman, which reveals to them an old Solstice legend and a key that fits no visible lock.
