“In many lands, it’s customary to offer those who have died that which they savored in life—Food, wine, the voice of a loved one calling out to them. If you cannot do it for your own sake, perhaps you can think of it as an offering to my ancestor.”

“I’d like to begin our prospective partnership on equal ground," Nahida folds her hands in her lap.
“Hold on, I don’t remember agreeing to anything.”

Summary
To want is to live.
It was the only real truth that the Wanderer had ever known.
—
“Usually, when someone asks you something it’s polite to ask the question back.”
The Wanderer made sure his scowl was properly seen before snapping, “And when have you known me to care about something like that?”
For some reason, the Traveler laughed. It was still soft and nearly-hollow, but it was more emotion than he’d shown all day.
Again, again, again.
The Wanderer had gotten very good at ignoring his own thoughts.
“Good point.” The Traveler stretched, arms held high and yawn loud. Which was stupid. There were several weak points that could be exploited like that, especially with the smooth expanse of his skin on display. The Wanderer looked away to scowl up at the setting sun. “Mine is the color of your eyes, by the way.”Bookmarked by irregularEternity
