Caitlyn should just end it already, say it’s a prank. Or confess that she isn’t actually the one who called her out here. Or maybe Vi’s a reasonable person. Like Caitlyn can talk her into a fake-dating scenario where they, of course, date but in a fake way.

Summary
No one could say Caitlyn wasn’t an amazing friend after this. Vi had called her two days ago, freaking out about going home to her family for Christmas and being interrogated about her single life… again. Caitlyn knew about Vi’s complicated past with relationships, and even more about her very intense, although close and loving, family.
So, like a good friend (and not at all a lovesick fool), Caitlyn had suggested just telling them the two of them were dating. How was she supposed to know that she would be forced to celebrate Christmas with them?

When Caitlyn releases one hand to cup under Vi’s jaw, tilting her head up until their noses are brushing— she knows this is where they’re going to meet their destiny: on a path forked like a snake’s tongue. For better or for worse.
“Why have we never kissed?” Caitlyn asks, mouths so close that Vi can feel her words.
Vi’s fist tightens on her back, crumpling the material of her tank top in it. “Because we shouldn’t.”
