The program had been struggling to find coaches, and they wanted Sid to do some promotional content. Which is why he was in his Pittsburgh house when Geno had FaceTime’d him for one of their regular summer check-ins.
“Sid, you’re in Pittsburgh?” Geno had asked, eyebrows scrunched in confusion. “Why you’re back already?”
“Hello to you too. I’m good Geno, thanks for asking.” Sid huffed but continued. “The little penguins called. They wanted me to do some content for them. I guess they’re having a hard time recruiting coaches and thought I could help…you know, promote the program.”
Geno hadn’t made a noise the whole time Sid was talking and the silence stretched on. His eyes focused somewhere beyond Sid.
“G?” Sid prompted.
“Sorry, I was looking up flights. I come home, help.” Geno said.
“Oh, G, you don't have to-“ Sid started.
“If Sidney Crosby change routine, must be important. Baby penguins need press, make more noise if we both do, no?”

Summary
“Yes, you said yes”, Sid replied without ever breaking his stride or looking up at him as he continued packing.
“What?” Geno was so confused.
“You said yes when they asked you if you would play for another team. You, without even hesitating, said yes”, he had finally stopped packing and was looking at Geno with those intense hazel eyes. Eyes Geno had seen now for more than two decades during game days when he was preparing to take the ice.

Sam Dickinson didn’t consider himself to be a jealous person.
Yet, as of late, something had been plaguing him. This sinking emotion that felt both too still and like a massive tsunami tearing apart his perfect shoreline. He first felt the feeling fester back in Montreal, or maybe a day before, when the Sharks had announced they’d be rapidly flying in some players from the Barracuda to replace some injured players.

The nuclear apocalypse has a way of putting a damper on everyones spirits, but surviving it and getting trapped in Vault with your ex and the friend group you blew apart with the breakup is enough to drive everyone insane. At least they may finally be able to discuss things like adults, now that neither of them can flee the country to avoid a confrontation.
