And, yes, this wasn’t the first time that he’d seen Peter since he’d come back, but it was... it was different now. This wasn’t a memory, it wasn’t clutching frantically at the cool metal of the Iron Spider suit as death spilled out around them. It certainly wasn’t covered by an end-of-life blur, wasn’t permeated by the frustration of trying to say goodbye without words.
No, this was just... this was just Peter: hair messy, wrapped in an oversized Midtown sweatshirt, warm and breathing and solid. Not dust, not ash, not bloodied and afraid.

Tony is many things to Peter- childhood hero, superhero mentor, unacknowledged father-figure, somehow turned family friend. The trouble is that none of these titles have much weight in the Real World.
Tony can do a whole lot to protect Peter when he's in the Spider-Man suit, not so much when he gets accused of cheating at school when May is stuck at work and asks Tony to step in.

The Endgame battle, re-imagined because I simply can't deal with Peter losing Tony before he even realizes what he became to Tony while he was gone.
It was madness, for a while.
Bruce Snapped, everyone came back, Tony finally – finally – found his kid, the kid, the one he risked his entire universe for. Forget about half the universe and all that jazz, all that ever mattered to Tony was getting his first child back. And he was willing to risk everything and everyone, including the rest of his tight-knit, desperately protected family for his sake.
