Prequel to The Sun Will Rise Again (And We'll Start Anew).
Legolas returns to Mirkwood after the events of LOTR, to tell Thranduil about his relationship with Gimli. Thranduil doesn't take his return well.
Legolas really should have convinced Gimli to elope.
He met his father’s eyes, searching them hopefully for an ounce of love, or even relief, or satisfaction, at least, that his only son had returned home hale and whole.
He found nothing.
Why he even bothered, Legolas would never know. He supposed that a part of him would always be that tiny elfling who thought Thranduil hung the moon and stars, seeking his father’s love.

“So, is there any name you like?” he asked, watching the dwarfling’s eyes light up with excitation. Thorin nodded enthusiastically and pointed to a name way up in the genealogy.
“Isen…grim?” Thorin said hesitantly, looking at Bilbo for approval.
“Very well, this will be your name then” Bilbo said smiling.
When he was a child, Thorin, son of Thrain, son of Thror, became better known as Isengrim Baggins, son of Bilbo Baggins.
But Isengrim will never be able to escape his true name. And when a group of Dwarves come crashing into his once peaceful life as a Hobbit, everything is bound to change.
