Summary
If Robby hovers, then Jack crowds. If Robby is keeping an eye on her, then Jack is staring right through her. Nico doesn’t fool herself into thinking Robby’s…closeness is anything more than his thorough teaching style. Even if the closeness makes her squirm, it makes her stomach twist with a different kind of nerves. Even if she likes that sometimes, when she has a moment alone, she can smell his deodorant on her scrubs.
With Jack, it’s a whole other thing. The man has a problem with eye contact and physical boundaries. He’ll stand behind her, talking her through a procedure, one arm practically wrapped around her waist to guide her hand, his voice a low rumble in her ear. She’ll lean back into him, making sure to brush against him a little more than is necessary. He stands too close to her, she stands too close to him, their hands brush as they rotate a man’s lung 180º to slow the bleeding, it’s all real fucking romantic if you asked her.

And Abbot was sitting in there, stuffing a pair of sterile suture scissors into his pocket.
Of course. This really should stop surprising her.
He looked up.
“Turner.” Something flickered across his face—there and gone. “Do you have an off switch?”
“Severely malfunctioning one,” she acknowledged, climbing in beside him. Reached past him for a pair of gloves to put in her pocket. “Condition I’m sure you’re familiar with?”
Instead of answering, he passed her a Narcan device. But she could swear the corner of his mouth quirked just enough to count as a smile.

Summary
Robby's best friend, Ren, is a humanitarian trauma nurse with a deployment packing list where her heart should be. She's done four continents, twelve countries, and one city she never planned to stay in.

Summary
Jack feels less like jumping. Well, most days. And things are better now that Robbie is back from sabbatical. Maybe now things can get back to normal.
That might be hard though when they get a new transfer from Seattle. She has a past of her own and her own issues. But Abbot is starting to like her more than he expected and is getting more involved than he should.
