“You busy this weekend?” Ryan turns to look at Shane, who doesn't seem to be very busy at all.
Without looking up from his phone, Shane shakes his head.
“Wanna go for a drive?”
“Where are we going?” Shane asks, looking up then, bright brown irises behind those clear framed glasses. His hair is pushed back but there’s that one lock of hair that falls delicately over Shane’s forehead. Shane pushes up the sleeves of his blue-tinged button up; Ryan watches the effortless sweeping motion before looking up to meet Shane’s eyes.
“Up north,” Ryan says, biting down on his lip, feeling sheepish. “You like werewolves, right?”
Shane gives him a look, pure disdain in his eyes. Ryan can’t help but grin.

"Yeah sure Ryan, I'm a guh-guh-guh-ghost," Shane says in a sarcastic tone that would have more weight if Ryan hadn't just stuck his hand inside Shane's torso.
"I just put, like, my entire hand in your chest. You can't- You don't- How can you just- What is going on!?"In which Ryan can’t tie a cravat, Shane is an unhelpful dick (and also a ghost), and they’re both stuck in a house that's filled to the brim with spooky horror tropes.

Summary
The scent that had stolen Ryan’s attention was coming from the area where the man was standing. A curious sniff at the air confirmed that it was still present and just as tantalizing to Ryan’s empty stomach, so with a roll of his shoulders to work out any lingering anxiety, he took his first step into the street.
As he neared the man, twisting through the crowd and mumbling apologies when he bumped into someone, Ryan couldn’t help but notice how much stronger the scent grew. With each step it became more apparent, a constant tease on his senses, sharp but sweet at the same time, like sugar coated in flame, or frost. He’d never smelled anything like it.
