Summary
After a few minutes, Will pulls back, with one final kiss to Mike's nose, and caressing his cheek with his thumb. Then he says three words that shifts Mike's entire world in one go, "happy anniversary, baby."
He knows that he should be more taken aback by mention of an anniversary that they're apparently celebrating, but it's baby that makes Mike's entire chest cavity feel like there's a fourth of July fireworks display going off in there. And then he notices the simple but elegant gold band on Will's left hand and instinctively looks at his own, where there is a silver one to match.
Holy fuck. Not only are him and Will together in this dream, or not-dream, that he's in, but they're fucking married.Will Byers is his husband, and somehow it's the best word he could ever think of to describe him.
Unbeknownst to him, Mike Wheeler accidentally rolls magic dice and wakes up twenty-five years in the future, where he and Will are happily married.

“He’s gorgeous, too. Have you seen him? And he never makes fun of me, which is nice. And he also laughs at all of my jokes, even when you guys don’t, and he says I’m so—”
“Oh my god. Stop. Talking. Stop talking. Please just shut up, Mike.” Max buries her face in her hands, sounding more annoyed than she ever has, which Mike didn’t quite think was possible.
“What? Okay, harsh,” Mike tries to brush it off, a mix of confusion and annoyance in his tone, “the hell’s that about?”
“Can you talk about something unrelated to Will for five seconds?” Max seems even more irritated now. “Do you actually talk about anything that isn’t about him?”
After Mike and Max are forced to hang out alone to stop their petty feuds, Mike discovers the fact that he’s quite literally always thinking about Will. The trouble comes when he realizes there’s a chance that might say something about his feelings.

“I’m not okay,” Will choked out, the words torn messily from him. “And I don’t feel safe. And I don’t… I don’t want it to stop. The feeling. I don’t want it to stop, Mike.”
Mike’s eyes widened. In an instant, he reached out, not hesitating, and pulled Will inside, shutting the door against the world. The apartment was dim, lit only by a desk lamp.
“Hey,” Mike murmured, his hands coming up to cradle Will’s face, his thumbs brushing away the tears that had escaped. “Hey, it’s okay.”
“It’s not,” Will gasped, shaking his head, his hands coming up to clutch at Mike’s wrists. “It’s not. It’s terrifying. You’re terrifying.”
Mike’s breath caught. Instead of pulling back, he leaned closer, his forehead gently touching Will’s. “Then let me terrify you,” he whispered, his voice raw. “Because you terrify me, too. Every single day.”
The confession hung suspended between them. Will could feel the heat radiating from Mike’s skin, see the pulse jumping in his throat.

"Is- Is it yours?" Will can't help but ask.
"No clue," Mike brings a hand up and traces his fingers over the dried blood, hisses when he gets close to his hairline.
Will moves like on autopilot. He crosses the small bathroom in what feels like a split second, and grabs onto Mike's wrist.
"Don't," he blurts. Pulls his hand away like he got zapped with electricity. "D- Don't.. touch it. Need to clean it."
"Right. Yeah," Mike mutters. His face does something weird, but it's gone as quickly as it comes. "Can.. Can you do it for me?"
