Summary
“Shit, I just sent Sorai out looking for you,” Sanemi said with a rough laugh, straightening and stabbing his katana into the earth. It would probably take the bird at least half an hour to figure out that Giyuu was already with Sanemi. “Nothing?” he asked, hoping that maybe Giyuu had better luck with the demon than him. Giyuu only shook his head though, and Sanemi raked a hand through his hair in frustration. “Fuck, where is it then?”
He turned a slow circle, looking at the surrounding trees as Giyuu came level with him. With a sigh, he rubbed his brow, making a decision. “Alright, let’s say one more circle around the village, then we get off this mountain until—”
A sudden pressure jolted through Sanemi’s back, followed by a flash of blinding pain erupting in his abdomen, cutting off Sanemi’s words mid-sentence. He staggered, looking down. What the hell? The green and black of his own blade protruded from his belly, coated in red.

The clock reads 2:35AM. The patrons have cleared out. Most of the other employees too. Tengen is still in the office, wrapping up the books. Kanroji is finishing the sweep of the floors.

Summary
“So what, you don’t have a better way to spend Christmas Eve than sitting by yourself on a park bench…?” The edges of his words are clipped in a way that says he’s not really surprised (this is Giyuu, after all), only disappointed.
But then, that’s not really fair, is it?
“You don’t have a better way to spend Christmas Eve than walking by yourself through a park?” Giyuu asks, pulling his gaze away from the lights to look up at Shinazugawa. His expression hardens. The snow falling lands in his hair and vanishes, blending perfectly with the silvery locks. The lights make him glow softly.
He’s very pretty, too.

“He’s alright,” Sanemi gruffly says, folding his arms, pointedly watching the Sound Hashira now. He can feel warmth on his cheeks and hopes it’s not as obvious as it feels.
Shinobu laughs, a bright sound, a little sharp, a little incredulous. “Alright, Shinazugawa? Tomioka’s defensive technique is flawless.” She glances up at him, then looks back out the window. They watch the match in silence for a moment before she speaks again, softly, almost as if to herself. “Water breathing is fundamental, easy to learn. But mastering it? Expanding it?” She sighs, then shakes her head and turns to go about changing the linens on his bed. “Tomioka Giyuu is more than alright, Shinazugawa.”

Summary
Lavender eyes flick back to Giyuu’s and hold. There’s fire in them, blazing hot enough to burn. His voice turns low and dangerous, and in another setting Giyuu thinks all of this would be really damn sexy. But then he focuses on what Sanemi is actually saying to find that the message is decidedly not sexy at all.
“If you don’t get back to work,” Sanemi promises, “then I don’t give a shit how much you’re paying me; I’ll leave your jock ass here to flunk out of algebra and get kicked off your damn team.”

And Giyuu, because he couldn’t help himself, stared back, feeling like he could hardly breathe.
The scars were deceptive.
Their subject was beautiful.
Then his nostrils flared.
“I can fucking smell you, asshole,” he growled. The subject leaned forward, until his nose must have been almost against the glass. His voice dropped to a low rumble. “If you’re going to stare at me like I’m some goddamn sideshow freak, you might as well get your ass in here and let me return the favor.”
