Summary
“What was Nick’s last name?” Oliver asks.
Charlie nearly chokes on a sip of his drink. “Sorry, what?”
“Nick. Your Nick. What was his last name?”
“Nelson. Why?”
“My form teacher’s name is Mr. Nelson. I think he’s new this year.”
For a moment, Charlie’s brain halts to a complete stop. He hasn’t talked to Nick Nelson in three years. Hasn’t thought about him in almost as long. It can't be the same Nelson. But what if it is?
OR
Nick and Charlie broke up at the start of Charlie's first year of uni. Unplanned circumstances brought Nick back home to Truham, where he's starting his first teaching job at his old school. When he gets his class lists, Nick is surprised to see Oliver Spring's name in his form group. As if the first year of teaching isn't stressful enough! Meanwhile, Charlie is shocked to hear that Nick is back in town and teaching his younger brother. But what's gone is gone. Charlie can't have Nick back in his life, even as a friend. Especially not when Charlie's too terrified to step even one foot outside of his flat. He can't need Nick Nelson again. But what if Nick needs him?

Summary
Let's pretend Sarah Nelson is around during season 3, particularly during episode 3: Talk. Let's say that she's at home when Nick leaves to go with Charlie to talk to his parents and also when Nick returns home in tears. She's there for him, but it's still his birthday, and she is so incredibly proud of the man he's becoming.
Sarah has seen Nick upset before. She’s seen him frustrated after a tough rugby loss. Sad after hearing bad news. Angry after that time his teammates said unkind things about Charlie. But this is something more than all of that combined.
Before she can offer him a hug, he’s sitting up and throwing himself into her arms, and she’s wishing he was still that seven-year-old boy with the missing front teeth so she could pull him into her lap and protect him from everything that can hurt him.

We all know Mr. Farouk is a big teddy bear under that gruff exterior, right? So what turned him into the teacher with the "QUIET!" command? If you've ever had a migraine, especially if you've ever had to teach with a migraine, you may have the same thought I had.

Or, Youssef needs a day off teaching because of a migraine. He reflects on the very first migraine he had while teaching and how it made him the teacher he is today. Also, Nathan is awesome and the two are adorable.

Summary
Tao isn’t worried about Nick. Rugby King Nick Nelson has taken care of himself for a good many years before his life intersected with Tao’s. He doesn’t need a babysitter.
It’s just that Tao has seen Nick opening beer after beer, trying and failing to engage with the party, mostly sitting on the couch alone, staring off into space.
And Tao saw the look in his eyes when he filmed that clip for Charlie: so vulnerable, he could break. Tao played it off as a joke, breaking news, Nick Nelson loves Charlie Spring and all that, but the look in Nick’s eyes as Tao stared down the viewfinder is one he won’t soon forget.
So it’s not that he’s worried when he sees Nick stumble upstairs, alone, and decides to follow him. It’s just that…
Oh, f*ck it. He’s worried.

Summary
Nick and Charlie had a plan: Nick would complete teacher training while Charlie finished university. Then they'd start their careers together and live happily ever after.
But then Nick is offered a position on a professional rugby team. It means being apart from Charlie again, but it also means an incredible dream coming true. Charlie is certain they can make it work, so Nick joins the team.
What Nick doesn't expect is how difficult it is going from being captain of a university team to the youngest player on a professional team. How embarrassing it is for his mum and Charlie to travel to his first match, only for him to sit on the sidelines as a replacement. How unsure he is if he made the right choice. How hard it is to be away from Charlie when he's falling apart.
After Nick is injured during a match, he develops some unhealthy coping mechanisms to deal with his physical and emotional pain. At first he thinks he can keep it under control, but it isn't long before he starts to spiral.
When Charlie realizes what's going on, will he be able to break Nick out of the spiral? Will their relationship survive the struggle? Will Nick be able to undo the damage he's done while trying to numb his pain?
