“Do not tell me that you have picked a sheep called Lamb as your next spouse, Heket.” Narinder gritted out as he gave her the most judgmental and disgusted look as he crossed his arms over his chest. “You have bad taste as is; I know it is much better than this.”
Leshy’s loud, sharp barking laugh broke through the quiet before Heket could respond, startling Narinder a bit before the furry worm cut himself off by stuffing another treat in his mouth. Heket hid a smile behind her hand. Narinder’s ear began to twitch several times, looking to Leshy who wouldn’t meet his gaze then slowly looked back at Heket with his eyes slowly narrowing. He was missing something, he was sure.

It is an odd thing, the way they catch him off guard. He had expected kindness. He had expected forgiveness. He gets fury instead.
"They do not get to do nothing. They do not get the luxury of death," they say, and in their voice, it is temptation. The promise of punishment he so desperately craved. "They will live, and they will pay a thousand times over in servitude."
In this voice, they are hypnotic. It is the same tactic he has used countless times, and they have picked it from his thoughts and turned it to their favor.
His Esriaal, who cannot stand his suffering, and the lamb, who drips the poison of an entirely different type of torture to curse them with.

Summary
In truth, the lamb has never asked him for anything. Never asked for more power, never asked for favors like so many vessels before them. They take only what is freely offered, from him and from the followers, and yet they receive in abundance. The followers worship them willingly, their allies offering gifts and treasures in exchange for mere trinkets. He had given them power freely, more than any vessel before them.
Perhaps that is what had made them so strong.
Perhaps it is why he had let them kill him.
