They go on dates. Derek informs Stiles that they’re not dates. Uh-hu, he agrees, and proceeds to lick his ice cream. While holding eye contact. Derek scowls until Stiles manages to drop half of his ice cream in his lap. Then he laughs in Stiles face. Stiles blushes but looks happy.
Derek is also happy. He thinks. There’s a bubble of white noise in his head making it hard to tell.

Loki’s eyes flick up to his, a spark of anger starting there that hints at gory revenge, and then his eyes go wide with something that doesn’t look like anger, and Tony has no time either to figure out what that means or brace himself before Loki lunges for him. Which is when things stop being garden-variety weird and take a hard left into straight-up bat-country surreal.
Or: the scene between Tony and Loki on Stark Tower takes a different turn. (Not a shippy one. Sorry, FrostIron people.)

Summary
Following the Battle of New York, the Avengers Initiative kicks into high gear under the leadership of Steve Rogers, i.e. Captain America. Tony didn’t mean to become part of this initiative, but it makes sense to sign on due to his experience with SHIELD and Rhodey’s War Machine suits.
The upside: Tony’s tech can be used in a widespread and meaningful way to help protect people. The downside: the last time Tony saw Steve, he’d rejected Steve’s proposal of marriage and broke his heart, leading to almost ten years of the two having no contact whatsoever. Until now.
