“I need my nest.” Louis whined, shaking his head and sniffling again.
Harry’s heart absolutely broke in his chest.
He wanted nothing more than to go with Louis to his nest and cuddle his Omega to his chest all night.
“Lou, you’re killing me.” he whispered, frowning like it hurt. “I want to go with you so badly but I can’t… I can’t leave the kids.”
Louis nodded, stroking his cheek against Harry’s jumper again and again, obviously trying to get more of his scent.
“I know.” he said, still sniffling. “I know.”
“Omega…”
“I’m not mad.” he murmured, moving back softly and blue eyes were red. “I promise I’m not. I just…” his voice broke and a sad noise escaped him. “It just didn’t go the way I hoped it would.” he said, a tear rolling down his cheek.Or - Harry and Louis fall in love, but sometimes a love story involve more than two people. Louis cradled his small bump. “I could usually lift it myself.”
“It’s okay,” Harry said easily. “A friend of mine is pregnant too, and she has some difficulty with things like this.”
Louis blinked, then placed a hand on his hip while the other was still on his bump.
“Who said I was pregnant?”
Harry’s eyes widened as he placed the bag in Louis’ cart. He looked like a deer caught in headlights.
“I…” His eyes went toward Louis’ stomach, then jerked away again. “Oh, my god. Sorry. Sorry, that was incredibly inappropriate.”

Louis’s body began to tremble under the gaze of those eyes.
He had endured so much throughout his entire journey to get here, spending his days consumed by fear and stress. He had been so close to find the pack to give his baby a home, a safe home.
His pup was his last thought before his vision got blurred and his legs gave up. The last thing he felt before losing consciousness was… softness.

He wasn’t sure if it was the knocking that startled him, or if it was the loud thud outside his apartment’s door.
Louis looked up from the sketchbook in his lap, pencil stilling mid-stroke. The apartment was quiet, especially now that it’s past midnight, save for the low hum of his air conditioner. No one knocked at this hour—not unless something was wrong.
He rose slowly, heart ticking faster than the seconds on his clock, sock cladded foot padding carefully across the wooden floor.
Louis cracks the door open.And gasps.
A man lay crumpled at his doorstep—broad shoulders, bloodied knuckles, suit jacket stained dark. His curls were matted to his forehead with sweat and grime. His breathing was shallow, wheezing. One eye was already swelling shut. His scent was almost rotten.
Even through the bruises, Louis recognized that face—Liam’s friend. The one with the sharp angles and eyes that always looked tired. The one who never spoke in elevators even when Louis smiled sweetly at him. The one who always left his scent lingering in the hallways every time he visited Liam.
“Harry?” He finally breathed out.

Instead, one hour-long dinner has him feeling sixteen again, instincts frayed and exposed. He’d been dangerously close to slicking up from nothing more than eye contact. It’s mortifying.
And now Harry will be around even more, helping his dad with the dresser. But Louis is determined not to let that happen again. He has a presentation to finish. He’ll stay glued to his laptop, buried in work, too busy to let Harry infiltrate his thoughts.
He drops into his nest with a soft sigh, the baby-soft comforter curling around him, protectively. He stares up at the glow-in-the-dark stars on his ceiling, chest rising and falling slowly.
If he can just avoid Harry, everything will be fine.
It has to be.
Or, the one where Louis comes home for the holidays to his home town of Brickwood, a small mountain town that he left years ago without looking back. His stressful job means no holiday is his own. He has a big presentation to finish and a deadline that he can't miss. But change and his family and the alpha that he was hopelessly in love with before he left threaten to ruin everything for him. But it may not be such a bad thing after all.
