Bookmarker's Notes
This is a story about tragedy. True tragedy. The kind that has to do with irony, fatal character flaws, and inevitability. Beautifully told, and, frequently but not always, heartbreaking. Which makes the heartwarming parts all the more poignant and moving. A true classic in every sense.

Because words were magic, because they only would come out when they had the right feel and sound, he couldn’t say simple things like: Dad, leave Harry alone for once or Hey, Amy, do you fancy coming out to dinner with me?

Bookmarker's Notes
A true gem. In a genre I'm starting to think of as something like: "The author imagines something that is, on the surface at least, very different from canon--and then uses that as a means to tell a story that focuses and distills the essence of canon characters and their relationships." UrbanHymnal's love and respect for these characters shines through every word.

Bookmarker's Notes
"A River Without Borders" is a beautiful and heartbreaking story, and Aranel's reading of it is spot on. A reader's effectiveness lies not so much in what you hear as in what you *don't* hear. Her phrasing is consistent with the story's wording and content. Transitions between the narrater's "voice" and the "voices" of the characters are smooth. The "voices," in spite of being subtle are consistent with what we've heard onscreen. I think I may have enjoyed this story via Aranel's reading more than I would have if I'd read the original text version! It has been a wonderful experience.

Summary
His immune system is decimating his nervous system - a civil war raging inside of him. Is there a reaction he's supposed to be having to this news, now? Something normal: cry, scream, pound the wall? Shake his fist at the uncaring universe?
John can't stop this. An uncomfortable bed at some hospital ward isn't going to stop this.
They keep telling him that this will most likely pass, but no one is answering the most important question: how will he be able to endure the uncertainty and the long wait?

This is almost certainly destined to become a Sherlock fan fiction classic. And soon.
