Summary
Everyday their numbers dwindle.
It’s all life without purpose, no better than praying to the Last Tree which can give them nothing, in a world where dead stars echo in the abyss.
Anais’ palm presses flat against his chest. Through his muscles, she can feel the faint patter of his heart. It has an even beat, like a melody without words. At least, this is something that is real. Simon isn’t an echo.
Eden gave up a long time ago. The Consolidation search for answers in blood moons. But Simon breathes, and that is enough to live for.
His heart is filled with blood, just as his lungs are filled with air.
However long they last, she will give her blood to him in return - blood be gifted with blood. This is her oath. It’s greater than any sworn promises by the Father.
Her fingers curl into a fist over his heart.
“Simon?”
“Hm?”
“Don’t die.”

Summary
In the aftermath of Emperor Commodus' fall in the arena by the hands of Maximus Decimus Meridius, the state of Rome is left as fragile as a broken whisper.
Aurelia, Commodus' only living child through his late wife Bruttia Crispina, falls into a state of danger. To secure the safety of her niece, Lucilla orchestrates for Aurelia to be safeguarded by the Temple of Vesta, under the esteemed and powerful Vestal Virgins; watchers of the eternal flame.
Fourteen years have passed since the death of Commodus. Rome is now governed by the children of Severus Septimus, a pair of mad men driven by blood and their own desires.
Emperor Geta has turned his eye to the Temple of Vesta. The people call his power into question; to have a daughter of Commodus as a bride would be a show of power.
In an effort to protect her niece once more, Lucilla orchestrates a union of her own. Upon his return from a conquering campaign, Lucilla convinces General Marcus Acacius to request Aurelia as his bride.
Torn from her temple and faith, Aurelia is forced to play the game of emperors and pawns once again.
As a granddaughter of Marcus Aurelius, she is the rising sun over Rome.

Summary
There is an indefinite loneliness in being the daughter of a victor, coupled with so much expectation. It doesn't matter that the sea is stained red each year. Her place in it is obvious.
Ceres Osprey's plans are simple: volunteer for the Hunger Games, win, and become something beyond a legacy.
But in the throes of the 65th Hunger Games, Finnick Odair, her greatest adversary and only friend, being reaped and consequentially winning was not part of these great plans.
Her hand is stayed for his sake, because they share a similar loneliness.
Promises are made.
But as the sun rises on the 68th Hunger Games' reaping, Ceres forgets her promises. She knows how to play the game and to survive, but it isn't about her.
This time, it isn't about winning.
Some legacies are greater than others, even if it means her blood spills for it.
This spans in parts from the 58th to prominently the 68th Hunger Games.
