Summary
Gods can tell when something supernatural is near. It is palpable, an almost solid weight in the atmosphere. When nearing Olympus, the thin mountain air becomes thick and heavy with divinity, pouring out over every gilded surface, glinting in the sunlight. Hermes knows what power feels like unencumbered and free flowing. How it sparks out of the fingertips of heroes, and settles softly like dewdrops in the hair of nymphs.
This? This was different.
-
Hermes has a secret. A place he goes where no one will bother him, a break amidst the whirlwind of his tasks. A place to soothe his aches and worries, where he thought he would never be found.
Until a man stumbles in. Tall and alluring with black hair and gold eyes, desperate to know him. It's the perfect antidote to the slow poison of knowing his heart's true desire will never love him back. Or is it?

Summary
Charon’s reached the very back of the crowd now, he can make out more of the man’s face, watch his eyes more closely as they dart around the crowd, still searching.
As you cast me from the mountain to your feet,
The man’s eyes finally lock on to his target and he grins, feral and predatory. He raises his hand… and points. Directly at Charon.
I'm yours to keep.
Chronic shut-in Charon is dragged to a concert by his twin brothers, where by happenstance a kind beautiful stranger bursts into his life. Charon would be content to scuttle back to his quiet house and forget the whole evening, but this determined acquaintance won't let him go so easily.

Summary
The engineer takes my hand. His skin runs hot. Very hot. He doesn't let go at what I would gauge as a socially-acceptable handshake time interval. Are we just holding hands in the middle of the lab-workshop space? Guess we are.
"I'm Rocky," he finally introduces himself. He has a hint of an accent, something lilting, melodic. I can't really place it.
"Rocky," I repeat, slowly. "Like the movies?"
"No," Rocky deadpans, giving me a look like I'm stupid. "Like the rocks."

Summary
Charon had done so well at holding himself together.
When Hermes disappeared with nothing but a gust of wind in the place he had been, leaving Charon with no idea as to when they might see each other again, he allowed himself only a moment of grief. He stared at the spot where his beloved had just stood, pressed against his body, wrapped in his arms, and let his heart crack under the weight of how terribly he wanted him back. Oh, how he hurt. How he ached. His hands clung desperately onto his oar, all but certain that without its steady presence, his towering form might collapse to the ground.
And then, the moment was over. A large plume of smoke clouded the air as Charon straightened, vehemently ignoring the tremors in his hands. He turned away from the direction Hermes had just left and started back toward the Crossroads, his stride determined. There was no time to think about the messenger. To worry about what might become of him.
There was work to be done.
