“What good will keeping me here accomplish, anyway?” Danse asks some time later. He’s not sure how long it’s been at this point—not because Reed has declined to tell him, but because the days flow past him like water, regardless of his participation.
Reed sighs. He’s putting laundry on the line since Danse did most of the washing.
“I don’t fucking know,” he admits quietly. “I just don’t want to lose you.”
Danse’s brow furrows. A strained look crosses his face. Something in his chest aches.
