“Don’t have anyone at home taking care of you.” It’s a statement, not a question. Something dangerous sparks at the base of Oliver’s spine.

“You’re in pain,” Ryan says gently.
“I’m British,” Oliver replies lightly. “Having a stiff upper lip about these sorts of things is sort of our brand, so if you could leave me in peace to be British, that would be great.” Oliver gasps out the last few words of his sarcastic joke because he got hit with a major wave of pain shooting down to the bottoms of his toes.
“Okay,” Oliver glares. “I am in pain.”
Ryan doesn’t smile this time; he is all too used to Oliver deflecting with a joke. Instead, Ryan reaches over and rests his hand briefly on Oliver’s leg above his knee. Oliver feels the heat of his hand on his thigh, and though it doesn’t ease the pain, it does help something inside Oliver thaw just a bit.
He swallows and tries to remain perfectly still – worrying that if he moves even a millimeter in any direction, Ryan will realise what he was doing and move his hand back to a safer, more ambiguous space. A space that didn’t lead to questions or answers.
Or, Ryliver is stuck in Nashville during the storm, Oliver is having a chronic pain flare-up, and they finally talk about it.

Summary
Eddie Diaz was a very secretive person, the rest of the 118 knew it from the moment they met him. He was reluctant to tell them anything about his personal life, with the slight leeway he allowed with his son.
Obviously, they had attempted to dig for more information at first, but after almost 2 years of vague responses, they had given up. They resolved that they would never receive a full debrief on the life of Eddie Diaz.
That is, until a call goes bad and suddenly Bobby has to call the husband nobody knew he had to come visit him in hospital.
There were a lot more questions to answer than before.

"Oh hi, I didn't realize you were there. Sorry, I've probably been rude,” he said politely.
“You didn't see me?”
“Afraid not,” he smiled, tapping his sunglasses. He also pulled out a folded mobility cane to make his point.
“Oh,” Robby replied, dumbly. He didn't know what to say. He must have been out of it if he didn't question the pair of shades on a cloudy day.
“Are you alright? You sound upset.”
“I just had a shitty day. I'm sure the next one will be even worse,” he laughed, dryly.

Summary
Dr Robby can't stand the breakroom coffee anymore. He didn't care if that made McKay call him 'bougie' (which meant something other than an intubation bougie, he was now learning).
Dana usually enabled his caffeine habit. But now that she was on a well-deserved break from the Pitt, he has to make the journey to the staff cafeteria himself.
When he gets to know the sad-eyed barista behind the counter, he can't help but keep coming back for more.
