“Haitham, do you have feelings for me?” Kaveh asked.
“It took one of the smartest men in Sumeru three years of living here to figure it out.” Alhaitham retorted. “It's… hard watching other people try to pick you up. It's hard watching, trying not to growl, it's hard not to be possessive.”
“Do… Do you feel the same?” Alhaitham asked. It was like he was bracing himself for disappointment.
The disappointment dissolved the moment their lips pressed together. Kaveh had stolen the kiss from the snow leopard. It was soft, testing the waters. But it quickly deepened; Alhaitham spinning Kaveh so his back was pinned against the hallway wall. The kiss only broke when the two ran out of air, both men gasping to catch their breath. It hardly lasted long, the two closing the space between them again for a needy, almost feral kiss. It was like the confession caused them to realize just how much they had missed. They had to make up on what they could have had all this time. Hands roamed curiously across backs and waists, like they had been touched starved for so long that it was impossible to keep their hands off of each other now.
