That phrasing makes Shu pause again, another reminder of a forgotten conversation that’s relevant to this place and Kanata’s reason for being here, but when she tries to think on it, her mind feels— strange. Sluggish, as if she’s allowed one of her friends to coax her into having a second or third drink at a festival. Her thoughts have all become oddly detached, wandering off to memories of balmy nights spent in Rei’s domain, the days-long celebrations of the underworld where he plies his guests with food and drink and the more carnal affections he so loves to indulge. It’s a horribly uncouth affair, far from the sort of events Shu ever admits to enjoying, though her mind now seems stuck on certain … indiscretions she’s allowed herself while present.
