He is currently human-shaped, but he knows and hears things he shouldn’t. Can do things he couldn’t do before. He is more. He is Other. He is also Wei Wuxian.

    A gentle touch stroked his back, and Wei Ying stiffened in surprise. He looked up to find pale-gold eyes staring down at him intensely.

    He gulped.

    “Are you hurt?” The young cultivator asked in a soft voice, as if he expected an answer— even though he was already prodding Wei Ying’s ears and legs to see for himself. When he didn’t find evidence of injury he seemed to relax. “Are you frightened?”

    If Wei Ying were human, he would have blushed and tried to crack a joke to hide it. As a rabbit, he could only kick his feet like a shy toddler.

    “Wangji? I heard a commotion. Is everything alright?”

    With the swiftness of a child being caught up past their bedtime, Wei Ying was shoved inside a billowing sleeve.

    “Mn.”

    This is a ‘The Disabled Tyrant’s Beloved Pet Fish’ AU for Wangxian. That series captured my heart, so then this happened. For those who don’t know that story; you don’t have to read it to read this. I don’t follow the plot at all, and I even changed the premise a bit. It’s only loosely inspired by it.

    Also just to be clear: Wei Ying is not a rabbit 100% of the time.

    Fast-paced, heart-felt and well-written Wangxian take on The Disabled Tyrant and his Beloved Pet Fish🩵🐟, bunny version! Wangxian are pretty BAMF here yet loving and sweet. I love this story.

    Modern cultivator, Wei Wuxian, dies in a train crash and is sent back in time to the period of Ancient China he had been writing his thesis on - transmigrated into his own body as a child, dying on the streets of Yiling. He has no money, no family, but a knowledge of modern cultivation and of the historical events that are about to unfold.

    He recalls the recently-unearthed journal of a woman who was imprisoned in Cloud Recesses against her will, and decides that she’s a good place to start to find someone who might be willing to help him dismantle the corruption that had sent the Cultivation World into the Dark Ages so long ago.

    Of course, he had no idea that the person he sought would be the mother of Hanguang-Jun, the object of Wei Wuxian's fascination (“obsession,” his friend had corrected), since he had first learned of his existence in the ancient texts he'd studied.

    Time travel fix-it with tragic transmigration from the jump. Brilliant world building and characterizations.

    MDZS characters: all little children. Intelligent and intuitive kids trying their best. WangXian basically have only two caring adults - and one of them is a nu gui… the other is being held prisoner while slowly being poisoned to death.

    This story is has excellent writing with fast pacing and smart allusions and nuances. I’m having a great time discovering them upon re-reading often.

    By the time MianMian gets back from her honeymoon, his name and face will be gloriously etched into Lan Wangji's memory. Impossible to remove.

    He's going to make that man think of him daily. He wants to drive him insane.

    Maybe Lan Wangji will have to invent an actual forget-Wei-Wuxian curse just to survive the aftermath.
