Summary
The lube isn’t where it normally is. It’s normally on the bedside table. There’s been very little reason to put it away. But somebody has- a maid, presumably, or Mencken during one of his rage-tidies (a habit Roman was both amused and confused to discover upon moving in).
So Roman checks the drawer, and next to the slim bottle he finds it: the gun.

His eyes widened and his mouth dropped open, and she wondered if she’d gone too far. She had no idea why she was talking to her boss’s son this way. Chalk it up to that potent cocktail of postpartum hormones.
