Summary
Kyanite stands awkwardly. He doesn’t really know why he’s here. Embarrassment teases at his cheeks and he realises he’s bothering the other man. He shouldn’t waste Gale’s time, so he quickly blurts out the only thing on his mind: “Shadowheart asked me to spend tonight with her. Alone. I believe she wants… sex.”
Gale only stares at him. Clearly, he doesn’t understand why Kyanite is here either, and Kyanite’s strange declaration hasn’t clarified matters.

Kyanite doesn’t know, can’t make sense of it. Shame and embarrassment overwhelm him. There is, too, a desperate curiosity about Gale’s reaction. He hates how exposed he feels. Any reflection on the discovery that he may, apparently, have feelings for Gale is overwhelmed by the mortification of having had those feelings broadcast publicly.
