Summary
Gandalf is in an awfully bad mood when he arrives at Bilbo Baggin's house, only to find that the once adventurous young Hobbit is now a respectful (read: boring) gentlehobbit. But what if their meeting didn't occur like that?
Gandalf tried to visit Bilbo earlier in the year, but Bilbo was not home. ("Gandalf came to the Shire to visit him in T.A. 2941 but [Bilbo] had disappeared again [on one of his walks] because of Elven new year" (http://tolkiengateway.net/wiki/Bilbo))
Holman Greenhand, Bilbo's current gardener, (pre-Hamfast Gamgee, see http://tolkiengateway.net/wiki/Holman_Greenhand), tells Gandalf where Bilbo went on his walk instead of describing him. Thus, Gandalf meets with Bilbo on Yestarë, the Elven New Year, the first day of spring and the renewal of nature. Point being, their meeting is much more pleasant and much earlier. This changes things. (A lot of things.)
OR
An AU wherein their earlier meeting sets off a chain of events that changes the fate of Middle-Earth.

Summary
Trapped on an ice-locked island and desperately low on food, Zoro and Sanji go ice fishing to replenish the Sunny’s stores. They make a series of questionable decisions in the process, but only Sanji ends up walking home in soaked clothes. Zoro is smug about this, at least until Sanji’s once-reliable legs start buckling beneath him and Zoro remembers exactly how bady untrained bodies take to frigid wintertime swims.

Or, Sanji gets cursed by some backwater island on some random Tuesday afternoon to hear Zoro's thoughts. It goes about as well as expected.

Fic written for this request on tumblr: "sanji or zoro somehow becomes temporarily mute and the other just *happens* to be the only one on the crew that’s able to completely accurately interpret their facial expressions/gestures, leading them to be their translator until their voice comes back"
Zoro is fluent in Sanji and Sanji is having a hard time coming to terms with that.

The crew has solstice festival hijinks with fireworks, a hot tub, a piñata, a stolen piano, crappy gift exchange, too much food, too much alcohol, and Luffy's wearing a pool floatie. Zoro's just along for the ride.
