Summary
After running away from an abusive home, Kokichi Ouma survives by lying, smiling, and making himself small enough to avoid getting hurt. Everything changes when a failed shoplifting attempt brings him face-to-face with Kaito Momota, a rough-looking delinquent and fellow runaway.
Equally damaged in different ways, the two drift through Tokyo together, slowly building something dangerously close to a home in each other. Then, after a chance encounter with a former Danganronpa contestant, they’re offered a lifeline - one they accept despite having no guarantee they’ll survive the people the killing game will turn them into.
TL;DR - a pre-game Oumota homeless AU. Kokichi isn’t the typical fanon version of his pre-game self (quiet, overly apologetic, and anxious), and neither is Kaito (a violent bully/meathead jock.)
