Summary
Located in the first season
Will is 9 months pregnant, one week away from the due date.
His partner (James) disappeared when he was 5 weeks along, so Alana would be the one to accompany him in the delivery room.
However, due to the great stress he went through because of the Garrett Jacob Hobbs case, he went into labor at that very moment on the kitchen floor.
At the hospital, Hannibal offers to support him and pretends to be his husband.
Hannibal is shocked by the name Will gave to the newborn and vows to himself that he will do whatever it takes to protect both of them and make them his family, using Abigail to his advantage, and at the same time, awaken the beast within Will. But with the arrival of someone unexpected, he might not need to make a great effort and can let things flow.

Will had never spoken poorly of him but he’d also never sung his praises. It was hard to know what their relationship was like.
“You’ve asked me about my mother once and now we’re onto my father… wading into family waters once more. Should I point out the type of psychiatry this is, again?”
Hannibal smirked softly, “Lazy, I know. And yet I still find myself eager for a response that is not a deflection.”

“It’s perfectly human to feel emotions and express them,” Hannibal replied. Will snorted, though it was hardly a happy sound.
“Are you really psychoanalyzing me right now?”
“Merely stating a fact,” Hannibal told him.
Will has never felt that he deserves much of anything; not friendship or protection, not sex for himself, or personal enjoyment. Not Hannibal - certainly not Hannibal. But Hannibal feels differently, he feels that Will deserves the world, and creates a safe place for him to find himself, to be vulnerable, and to grow into the extraordinary creature Hannibal knows him to be.
