Summary
Makoto Naegi was unpredictable, and the Mastermind knew this; if they wanted their plan to succeed they'd have to get rid of Makoto. But the games need at least 15 people, 14 people participating in a killing game isn't nearly as exciting as 15, that way they'd have more despair to enjoy. Summary
Ren and the Phantom Thieves lose against the Holy Grail. Ren wasn't the suave and intelligent Joker everyone thought he was. He had struggled everyday to hold the image of being the leader of the Phantom Thieves, but he couldn't handle the responsibility thrown onto him and didn't have the qualities to actually be a good leader....and that cost them the battle with the Holy Grail.
