With the door closed behind you both all walls went down, usually, if this were a normal hunt he would have started to relay the happenings of the hunt but no words came out of his mouth.
Your smile dropped and you pulled your shoes off, you watched Dean move around the cabin, first shrugging off his leather jacket and plaid shirt then silently rummaging around for clean or slightly clean whiskey glasses and digging up the good whiskey from behind all the other liquor you had.
As Dean leaned against the countertop of the kitchen you walked over to him and wrapped your arms around his torso as if showing some sympathy. You didn’t need to speak to convey your condolences, just how you moved and look said enough.

Dean could barely remember when you spoke, it was so long ago and now he was used to fluently understanding you through hand motions. He couldn’t even remember what your voice sounded like but really he had gotten used to that also. He was just happy that you were still alive, even if being mute was a side effect of what happened.
He still got to kiss you and hug you and hold you, that was the important part. Plus, you were getting better and better over time, when he first got you home you didn’t even leave his side much less try and communicate. Now you were okay with him leaving for a few days though he rarely did it, a small part of him hoped that one day you would talk again.

You had bubbles up to your shoulders and you sat across the tub from him. You watched him sip from his whiskey glass as you drank from your own. He had yet to pounce on you and you both just contented yourselves in just watching each other. Well, it was more thinking of the amount of things you two could do in a bathtub without getting water on the floor. (The list was limited.)You two went on to talking about your past together and when you two didn’t even know the other’s names. All the while he played with your toes under the water and you tickled his side with them. Eventually you pulled him closer to you and kissed him. With his hands at your waist and your noses touching everything was serenely perfect. You could feel his breath on your face and when you opened your eyes his bright green ones were right on you.

You are standing right in his way. Duncan breathes out hard through his nose. “Don’t push me, girl,” he mutters, and bends. Then, his arms go round the backs of your thighs and he swings you over his shoulder.
“Duncan!” you yelp. Bat your funny little fists against his back and kick one foot so hard your slipper falls off. “Dunk, my shoe! Bloody hell, put me down!”
“That’s what y’get for bein’ stubborn,” he says, giving the backs of your thighs one firm settling pat as he walks on.
You keep fighting him, but you laugh all the way through it, bent over his shoulder and kicking your remaining slippered foot at the air. “What has got into you?”
“You. Apparently.”
