Charlie is being watched.
Every time he thinks he's alone, there he is, Carlisle Cullen popping in to check on him like he has absolutely nothing better to do.
"Just checking your vitals," he'd explain away with that calm doctor smile of his, but it was starting to feel like he was worried Charlie would jump out of bed and dash out of the hospital if he didn't make sure he was still there.
Charlie would always reply with the same sense of weary malaise, a tired, "Alright," or "By all means."
Then Carlisle would leave.
And somehow he'd always come back.
As the days blurred together and the hours passed, Charlie found himself liking the attention.

Charlie Swan is the chief in a sleepy old town, Forks, where nothing seems to happen, at least to the average person. But over the last couple months, he’s noticed some odd occurrences: an uptick in dead animals scattered across the forest, break-ins at hospitals, folks passing through the town ending up dead on the side of the road. As he investigates on his own time, all signs start to point to the handsome doctor who showed up around the same time.
