Identity. To sum it up.
I wanted to share something a little more personal as I was inspired by another poet on here and some other works of poetry. I just want to disclose that I am African/black American, which ties into this a lot as it's one of the most questioned parts of my identity by myself and others.
Using someone's preferred name gives them power and validates their identity, especially with dead names of trans people. Deadnaming them is to hurt their identity. To address them with no name would be to ignore that they exist. The last two are both terrible ofc but I just wanted to share what I took away from a video about identity.
Also don't ask what was going on at the third stanza. -

Even across a sea, lies a great tree,
Where mother maiden is the queen bee
Feasting on Male Melodies.Women outcasted by their small island of Litcha, left on a boat, forever drifting across the vast sea, are pulled in by a primordial and kind entity known as the Mortal Maiden, she is the tree, the one who lets her daughters rest on the branches of her body. Blessing them with enteral and collective peace.
