Omni-Man, Nolan fucking Grayson, was standing outside of his building. He was wearing some tattered gray and white outfit, but even without his iconic red cape, Cecil knew the people here knew who exactly had just reappeared. The earth was cracked under his bare feet from his landing, and he was just staring out ahead at the building in front of him. Then he slowly got down on his knees and lifted his hands into the air.
“You’ve got to be fucking kidding me.”

Debbie was average. That wasn't an insult, most people were. She had an average childhood, gotten decent enough grades, graduated from a not prestigious, but not bad college, taken her real estate license exam and went to work for a local broker. She was as damn dull as the majority of people on this planet came. The only remarkable thing in her life was meeting Nolan.
She was just a person. They had checked, when it became apparent Omni-Man was taking an interest.

Debbie clutched at her arms and scowled at any techs who gave her strange looks. Yes, she let their friends and colleagues die for a chance to save her son. Maybe that was how Nolan lived with it. Do it enough times and you could stop thinking about it. So long as you had something ahead of you to focus on. Was the end of this day a far enough horizon? The dead were always there when she woke up, it wasn’t like she could ever really get away from them.
