Ethel Hallow did it. She turned over a new leaf.
Now the Potions teacher at Cackle’s, she made it her goal to ignite a passion for learning within each lot of new students she received every year, with the hope that they could end up on a better path than she went down.
This year was to be the same. Under the bright blue sky, the beloved teacher tightly embraced all of the older girls who ran to greet her with enthusiasm, and gently guided the nervous first years to gather in their group with others who were just as unsure as them.
No longer was she that cold, selfish girl who destroyed everything she held dear. That was a time she didn’t have to think about - she was different now. She could leave that behind her. She had left that behind her.
This year was to be the same.
Then she caught sight of a young first year stepping off the shuttle bus, who bore a much-too-similar-to-be-coincidental resemblance to her estranged younger sister of 25 years.
And everything came rushing back…
