They could be together. He can feel his heartbeat in his mouth, his desire strong enough to eclipse all of the facts, all of the sensible, reasonable things he should have said, should have done. He can see a future plain as day. They don’t have to be enemies. They don’t have to be apart. He doesn’t have to leave Satoru behind. If he’ll only take Suguru’s hand.

October 2007 - As summer fades into autumn, Suguru Geto and Satoru Gojo have one final decisive argument in Shinjuku.
Satoru Gojo departs from Jujutsu High that day, and never returns. In theory, this would be a clean break. A new beginning- leaving behind the pain and responsibilities of the past and making sure the two of them never get separated again.
In practice, Satoru must now find a way prevent the entirety of Jujutsu Society from collapsing in his wake.

“I’m not used to this,” Xid said quietly, dragging the heel of her boot over the ground. She felt out of place, here, in the quiet. In the dark. Every inch of her itched for a stage, a mask to hide behind, strings to strum and lights to blind her.
But the woods were peaceful where Saffron was. Xid could hear the wind wail through the trees, could hear the leaves rustle and the branches collide. Somewhere, nightingales sang, bats swept, owls hunted. She could hear dogs howling into the night back in town, lonesome and hungry.
