Summary
Arthur is well on the way to becoming the type of leader Merlin had always hoped he'd be - one who cares for all of his people.
But even so, preparations for Yule festivities along with some unforeseen circumstances result in Merlin taking on too much work. Unfortunately nobody notices until it's almost too late.- Language:

Summary
Merlin is not being taken advantage of in the forest. He’s living his best life out there with the squirrels and the ‘berries’ and no doubt some fairies while he’s at it.
The issue that Arthur has with Merlin going off to have sex in the forest is that he does it without having sex with Arthur first. He can forgive most of Merlin’s faults, but this one is egregious, and he simply cannot overlook it—as he tells Lancelot who stares at him in response.
“You want to have relations with Merlin?” he asks.
“Am I a joke to you?” Arthur asks back.
Lancelot doesn’t have a good answer to that; he’s only got more stammering and then unhelpful indignation about Arthur ‘abusing his authority’ over Merlin which is all eye-roll worthy and exhausting.
Arthur does not need some peasant telling him how to treat his other peasant.

Summary
'What happened to you?'
Merlin grimaced. He must look worse than he realised for Arthur to sound like that: genuinely aghast, as if he thought Merlin might collapse at any moment. It wasn't that bad. He'd wiped the worst of the mud and blood off.
'Gaius needed herbs.'
Sometimes all it take is a little tender loving care to shift the balance of friendship into something more.

Summary
Merlin hates it when there are visiting nobles in Camelot.
He hates the frantic scrubbing that starts days before their arrival—servants on hands and knees polishing stones no one will think to look at, tapestries beaten free of dust that will settle again by morning, silverware counted and recounted as though a missing spoon might spark a war.
He hates the way the castle stops feeling like home.
And he especially hates Arthur during these visits.
