    Summary

“Is this… do you want this?” Kieren asks, voice scratchy and low, never breaking eye contact. Simon doesn’t say anything, just keeps staring up from where he's kneeling at Kieren's feet. Kieren weighs the risk, then tightens his grip on Simon’s hair, tilts Simon’s head back a little further. “Answer me, Simon.”

    “Yes.”

    ---------------------------------

It turns out that Kieren, despite (or perhaps because of) his gentle nature, is a natural dom and is more than willing to indulge Simon's submissive side, however slowly Simon needs. Still, things aren't all smooth going, because Simon isn't so great with communication and secrets of any kind can eat away at any relationship.

"Oh, Spock." Her eyes were very dark, and very clear. "Every love story is a potential grief story. That's the whole point"

    Summary

James T Kirk is one of the most celebrated authors in the federation. His novel, Desert Lemons, has won multiple awards and is often taught as part of college curriculums. Including that of Spock, literature professor at Georgetown University.

James T Kirk is one of the few survivors of a tragedy that shook the federation over a decade ago, although 'survivor' may not be the correct term.

"Do not stand at my grave and weep
I am not there. I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow.
I am the diamond glints on snow.
I am the sunlight on ripened grain.
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you awaken in the morning's hush
I am the swift uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft stars that shine at night.
    Do not stand at my grave and cry;
I am not there. I did not die."

    Summary

In his first year in command of the USS Enterprise James T. Kirk must gel his new team together, adapt to his abrupt change in status over his friends, and deal with falling for his first officer. And, of course, there's always someone out to threaten the galaxy.

Note: Beta-read by the wonderful waketosleep. This was written in 2009-2010, and thus pre-dates Into Darkness. It was only pointed out to me recently that I neglected to upload it here for some reason. Also, since writing this I have spent two years living in the US so I have taken the opportunity to correct some of the lingering Britishisms. Please feel free to prod if you spot any leftovers!
