“Hmm?” Tamsy glanced over at the teenager. “Are you…? No way…are you actually crying?”
The younger Cleaner squeezed his eyes shut and buried his face in the sheets.
“Oh you poor thing.” Tamsy stood up and tied his belt. “That’s okay. I promised you, didn’t I? You won’t remember any of this.”

“Yo, Zanka,” Enjin says. “What are you up to?”
Zanka jolts, eyes going deer-in-headlights mode, before he registers Enjin standing there, which triggers an interesting on-and-off skittishness as he stares for a moment. Then he quickly turns to squint at a particularly offensive film of dust over an even more offensive clutter of books. “Ōsouji.”
Ōsouji. Ōsouji. He’s heard that term somewhere before, he’s sure. After a moment of thinking it clicks. Oh, that.
— — —Even after becoming a Cleaner, Zanka keeps his family's traditions with him. Without a family to practice them with, he fully expects to practice alone.
Enjin is more than willing to make sure he doesn't.

“Wait!”
Her emotions fly out before she can stop them, a distinct memory slapping her back to reality. If all of her belongings were taken, chances were that Zanka was in the same boat which meant that there was a strong possibility that Rudo’s gloves had been seized.
“Whoever you are, lady! You gotta listen!”
Riyo slams her fists against her cell door, she can’t help but grow concerned about the potential pain Rudo is most-likely currently in. “Those gloves help Rudo with his pain condition! He can’t take them off for long periods of time because of his injuries!”
In the aftermath of the shitshow that was the Doll Festival, the Hell Guard get to the Cleaners before anybody can stop them. While Enjin manages to get away, Zanka, Riyo and Rudo do not.Bookmarked by Loonied

“Why? Amo is sure Rudo’s smile is perfect.”
Rudo inhaled as though he were channeling an ancient spirit. The energy of every vital instrument he'd ever used returned to him for this one very moment. His eyes closed, and Amo was momentarily concerned about him.
“Rudo, are you-”
And then his face did… something. Amo was not sure what, exactly, the something was, but… it was something.
Despite Amo’s disdain for the blue eyed freak, it seemed this time Zanka had been right. Amo could not ever tell him. Maybe after teaching Rudo the perfect smile, Amo would pretend that Rudo’s smile never changed at all just to bother him.
Yes, an excellent idea.
