He doesn't know how he got here.
(He knows how he got here. Gwi-ma summoned him. The why remains elusive.)
He does not know what he did. He thought after four centuries he had grown to recognize a pattern, could predict the shifting in the wind and the demon king's moods and be close by when summoned but this one had come as he was wandering the Badlands and his patterns burned as he did not heed his King's wishes fast enough.
There was a new addition to Gwi-ma's throne room.
He notices this as he kneels, Gwi-ma’s flames too bright to look at directly. The Saja Boys are somewhere in the crowd, he can feel them.(He does not know this, but they will fight for him. Are ready to defy their king for him. Is it any wonder Gwi-ma has done his best to ensure he will never ask them to?)
At his right, there is a gold cage and inside a figure huddled, knees tucked to its chest, face hidden in its knees, braided purple hair trailed down its back and wrapped around like the facsimile of a tail.
There was something familiar – something at his chest tugged, begged and screamed – who was she?Or: Jinu starts remembering something, he doesn't know what to do with the information.

Jinu formed the Saja Boys out of pure desperation and the urgency to feel some humanity again.
But with forming the boy band of demons, he didn't expect everything to be so difficult and confusing. In all of his years never had he expected something to make him conflicted.
He finds himself torn between both what he wants and what is expected of him, whilst he wants to remain some humanity.
Until he finds humanity and hope in the most unexpected way.

“Don’t forget about our deal, Jinu,” Gwi-Ma sneered, and a gasp was torn from Jinu's lips as his markings flared with new pain and echoes of screams and cries began to rise in volume in his head. "Don’t think you can escape what you are. Don’t you even dare think that you can escape me.”

But the spark of hope that Rumi ignited in Jinu that there could be something beyond this life of misery and shame isn’t so easily extinguished by threats and pain and to Jinu's horror, Gwi-Ma discovers the traitorous thought. Gone now is the deal for his memories to be erased and instead the fates of the Saja Boys, the closest thing Jinu has to family, are now at stake. Either he follows through with his plan and helps Gwi-Ma capture all the human souls, or the only people he's allowed himself to care about will suffer horror and pain for the rest of the eternity. There's no right answer, there's no escape, and no matter what Jinu chooses people are going to get hurt. The only thing he can even try to control is how much.
Or; a darker, whumpier take on Jinu's deal with Gwi-Ma while exploring the backstories of the Saja Boys.
