Summary
Charles spent his entire life on Genosha island -- a secluded piece of land, hidden away from the rest of the world, isolated for the last 200 years. He’s devoted himself to the priesthood of the Genosha religion and is expected to take his Divine Vows soon. However when the Outsider Erik Lehnsherr crashes on the shores of the islands Charles' whole life is turned upside down as he begins to question the Truths he’d been told by Divine Master Shaw and the rest of his people. Perhaps Charles and Erik were destined to meet to rid the islanders of great evil.

Summary
Charles was diagnosed with multiple sclerorsis 10 years ago. He has been in a wheelchair for a year. His condition is gradually deteriorating, so that he is slowly giving up hope. Since he doesn't want to be a burden on his sister, he decides to spend his last evening in Paris. He books a suite in an expensive hotel and wants to spend the evening alone with good food and whiskey when another guest plays extremely loud metal music. Charles rolls over to his neighbor to complain, only to find out that he also intends to kill himself. In order to give Erik's decision more time, he persuades him to go to a bar together for a last drink. From there they move around the city and find themselves in a wide variety of situations. And the longer the two spend the night together, the further away the thought of death moves ...

The ground beneath them groaned.

“You still gonna kill me,” Quaritch asked from the darkness, “or can we focus on the issue at hand?”
Jake tightened his grip on the knife. “Talk. Tell me what you can assess.”
A pause. Then, grudgingly: “Fell maybe forty feet. Can’t see the opening. Air’s not great. Chemical.”
Another sound rolled through the cave, stone shifting, settling.
Jake cursed under his breath. “Truce. Until we get out.”
“And then?”
“Then we finish what we started.”
“Fair enough.”

Jake Sully’s hunt for Quaritch ends when both men are dragged underground by a collapsing forest, trapped deep beneath Pandora in a cave system that does not forgive mistakes. Injured, hunted, and running out of air, they’re forced into a fragile truce built on necessity rather than trust.
Survival means cooperation. Cooperation means proximity. And proximity means confronting what hatred, memory, and choice actually cost, long before either of them gets the chance to walk away.
