Hawks nodded, tightness in his chest. He should have realised what this was the moment he saw the lonesome man sitting atop one of the highest skyscrapers in Tokyo. He sighed.
“You want some KFC?” He asked. The man raised an eyebrow and then scowled.
“I don’t need your charity hero.” He huffed, scrubbing out his cigarette end. Hawks chuckled, shaking his head.
“Who said it was charity. You’ll owe me one.” He said, standing up. The man looked at him confused. He then smirked and let out a deep laugh.
“Sure thing, birdie.” He said, taking the hero's hand. Hawks smiled widely.OR: What happened if Hawks met Dabi before he joined the league. Join as these two geeks are bad at feeling but figure it out.

It had felt like Kris couldn’t remember the last time they were free from their soul; besides caging it away in the deep nights. They thought— prayed to be free from the ugly droning sound in the back of their head that followed the pulse of that soul. They wanted to break from the restraint of its captive will. They wanted, just for one day at least, to not worry about what they might do if this higher being decided to have its way. So they decided to cage it for longer. As long as they could. They were tired of the responsibility. This, although, wasn’t very beneficial to them in the long run. Unfortunately, Kris couldn’t act at top performance for long without it.

Torpor.
A thermoregulatory process exceedingly common for birds, in which physiological activity is drastically reduced when the animal enters a period of high metabolic stress. Hawks didn’t understand what that meant when his handler explained it to him, he was eleven, after all. He knew a bit here and there about biology, especially when it pertained to the avian aspects of his mutation quirk, but some of the more complicated bits still flew right over his head.
or: hawks does the bird thing where they basically dissociate when they get cold/hungry. the commissions way of handling it + the LoV's way of handling it
