Summary
As he slowly stepped closer, his eyes traced over the mangled halo of spattered blood encircling the Russian’s head. It was hard to tell if the man had noticed Ogata’s approach or not. He certainly wasn’t reacting to him. Although he appeared to be at least semi-conscious, and his breathing was very labored. Ogata couldn’t blame him. The pain must’ve been excruciating. Judging by the placement of the entry wound, most of his back teeth must’ve been completely shattered, in addition to a partially – or even fully severed tongue.
He might never be able to talk normally again. He might also be forced to eat only soft foods for the rest of his life. The thought made Ogata smile. He wanted a closer look at the wounds. If he tilted the Russian’s head the right way, would his fragmented teeth fall out of his mouth? Maybe even his gnarled tongue? Ogata felt giddy just thinking about it.

"What? Why?" Outraged and hungry, Daniel stared at the others. "This is ridiculous!"

By now, it was so warm that Daniel's shirt was clinging to his torso, and the others were visibly suffering from the heat as well. Nevertheless, they had gathered outside in the heat to bother Daniel with this nonsense. [...]
This had to be a fucking joke.

The police and authorities were incompetent and corrupt and no one could do anything to resolve the problem…until Charles Choi suggested the idea of forming an underground yet 'legal' fighting ring.
Daniel Park’s just the attractive hired medical help that gets caught in the crossfire.
Or the story in which Daniel plays Doctor for a bunch of gangsters and delinquents. Except it eventually gets more complicated when feelings are involved.
