The encounter with the Netherbrain at the Morphic Pool with your uncomfortable ally, Gortash, goes very differently than you expect. You decide Gortash owes you answers. For his part, a new plan forms in the wake of an opportunity.
[ Tossing your head, you laid a hand on your weapon, threat implicit. “Fine, then I’ll take off a finger every time you don’t answer me. How’s that for a deal?” Venom inflected your tone, a sickly sweet smile warning Gortash that he was playing with fire.
Gortash raised his hands in surrender. “Now, now, there’s no need for threats, hero. I know you have a propensity for violence - indeed, it can be quite a useful trait - but if you act in haste now, you may live to regret it.” The hint of your past was tantalizing, and Gortash leaned in, marking your interest. “I know you well,” he said with confidence, “and there is much I can tell you, if only you would give me the chance… my dear.” ]

Summary
Enver Gortash is on the cusp of achieving all of his dreams. Tav and their allies agreed to a truce with him, and are now chasing his fellow Chosen around the city. All is going according to plan - until a mysterious figure appears in his office, with a dire warning about the Absolute.
[ The figure stopped a few steps away, just short of melee distance. “I don't need you to trust me,” they said with a tilt of their head. “Worst case scenario, everything goes well for everyone except you.” They crossed their arms, the cowl shifting as they looked away from him. “I shouldn't even care.”
Incredibly vague, but he had worked with less. Prying information from a dull mind was always a tedious task, but one he'd proven to be quite skilled at. “And yet you do.” His tone was carefully curious, treading the line between genuine interest and command.
Shifting on their feet, the figure replied. Ah, so he was making them nervous already. Excellent. “I do,” they stated simply. ]

Summary
Reader arrives in Hell, and almost immediately sees Vox - and instantly becomes infatuated with him.
You keep your head down until you get a job working at V Tower, where you throw yourself into working as hard as possible in the hopes of being useful to Vox.
[ Nahsty rolled her eyes, chuckling. “You’re always looking at your phone. And it’s always Vox on the screen.” Looking at you with a mote of pity, Nahsty slung a winged arm around your shoulders, pulling your head down just in time to avoid a flying wrench. “You’re lost on him, aren’t ya, hon’?” she rephrased, pointing at Vox where he was giving a speech on your phone.
Blushing, you fumbled the tech, trying to lock the screen. Instead, you swiped the video away, settling on the home screen. Which was a picture of Vox, grinning slyly at the viewer. Nahsty lifted a brow, and, sweating, you finally managed to lock the screen.
The lock screen was a different image of Vox, lounging in a chair with hooded eyes.
Nahsty raised her other brow. “Yeah, you got it bad, sweetie.” ]

Summary
You find yourself in a bad mood (unfortunately, nothing unusual) and decide to walk into a shady bar, hoping you can find somewhere to brood in a poorly-lit corner. What you find instead are two witty assholes determined to ruin-slash-uplift your night.
[ “That’s all, thank you so much, uh… sir.”
“God, don’t call me sir. That makes me feel old,” he muttered, rubbing a hand on his face. You thought you heard hoodie-man murmur something just loud enough to be heard that sounded a lot like “If the shoe fits!” which you assumed the barman managed to ignore until he added, “Just call me Weasel. And that asshole over there-” he jabbed a thumb in the direction of hoodie-man- “is my not-best-friend Wade. Feel free to pester him for anything else you need,” he finished, turning away to get back to his register-that-sure-looked-like-a-computer.
“Hey, it’s not like I work here! I don’t even get paid for my amazing, incredible, top-notch customer service skillz!” Hoodie-man, or rather, Wade, protested. You weren’t sure how you knew he intended to spell it “skillz” rather than “skills,” but somehow, you just knew. ]
