Brucie said, his mouth a firm line. His usual playboy smile gone from his lips and his eyes were red from shed tears.
"A pound of flesh? Nothing more than that?" Another reporter asked.
"And not a single drop of blood. I can't have the Batman on my hide, now, can I?" Bruce Wayne responded as he walked away.
Or in an alternate universe wherein the Joker kills Jason Todd-Wayne and not Robin, Brucie Wayne "accidentally" puts a hit on the Joker.
It's not his fault that Gotham took things literally, Your Honour!

Summary
“Batman. I just got a message from Harley Quinn through our tips system—she says she needs to talk to you urgently. It’s about Red Robin.” Oracle’s voice, normally so calm and collected even in the face of disaster, held a strained edge as she relayed her message.
She patched the reformed villain though their comms system, Harley immediately came through quick and panicked.
"Y-your bird… the one me and Mistah J— the one we took back then, he’s here. He’s JJ Again!” In the background of the call a shrill and goosebump-inducing laugh was heard, a laugh Bruce didn’t think he'd ever hear again.

Tim is de-aged into being 13 again, the age he was when he was kidnapped by Joker and Harley and turned into Joker Junior.Series

“Then why is the Joker still alive? Why did he not kill him?” Red Hood, Jason – he had taken his helmet off, he was Jason Todd, was Tim’s Robin, was alive – demanded. “If he actually cared about me, why didn’t he avenge me?” Tim put as much distance as he could between him and Jason as he could, trying to give himself time to talk.
“Just because the Joker’s still alive doesn’t mean they haven’t tried!” Tim yelled. Jason faltered, just for a moment.
“You’re lying,” Jason growled. “If Batman had really tried, then the Joker would be dead.”
“Jason, the Joker doesn’t stay dead.”
