Chan tenses. “Seungcheol? Isn't he your… your pack alpha?”
“Yes, but he’s not scary. I’m going to stay with you and make sure he’s nice.”
That does help a little. He’s learned how important it is to have allies. Even weird ones. He relaxes slightly, and Jeonghan smiles a lazy grin.
“There we go, you smell a little less terrified now. Very good, makdoongie. Why don’t you finish your last piece and I’ll go get him?”

Jeonghan felt a flame rise in his chest. It wasn’t anger but something protective and fierce. He straightened his posture. “Does he have paperwork? Can he be adopted?”
The woman burst into mocking laughter, “Adopted? Him? First of all, he’s far too old for that. And second, you can’t be serious? He’s a problem case.”
Jeonghan didn’t so much as blink. His voice remained soft, but there was steel beneath every word. “Give me the boy’s papers.”
He turned his eyes to Chan, and in that moment his decision was already made, “I’m taking him home.”

Jeonghan can't help his weak heart when Chan meets his gaze. The boy looks so vulnerable that Jeonghan feels completely out of control. He has no idea what kind of challenge Chan will bring to the pack. Chan is becoming the pack’s new omega, and his arrival turns their everyday life completely upside down. Trust, fears, and expectations intertwine as the pack tries to find balance with their new member. And Jeonghan didn't even tell Seungcheol beforehand.
