A sob breaks though and he shudders, hands clenching tightly as he roughly swipes the tears off of his cheeks. He needs to be the strong one, he can’t fall apart when Spencer needs him.
Penelope holds him, whispering soft words.
“He-” Derek shudders, “he told me he loved me. His last words, his last moment thinking he’s going to die and he used it to tell me he loves me.”
“Oh, my love,” she whispers, sounding heartbroken and understanding. “That boy has loved you for as long as I've known him. You love him back, huh?”
The words are soft, no pressure in them.
“I love him more than I've ever loved anyone,” he confesses brokenly. “He’s my- he’s everything.”

Or the one where Derek and Spencer are run off the road and Derek watches as the light leaves Spencer's eyes and he uses his last breath to confess his love, not wanting to leave without ensuring Derek knows how loved he is.

“Okay, okay.” He whispered, more to calm himself than anything. “You’re gonna be alright. You hear me? You’re gonna be fine.”
Reid’s face was pale, his mouth slightly parted. Morgan leaned close, brushing his knuckles along Reid’s cheekbone, then down to his jaw. He kissed the corner of his mouth softly, his lips trembling.
“You’re not allowed to leave me.” He murmured. “Not ever.”

Reid shook his head. “We’re trapped... we’re stuck, Morgan... I can’t...” He began to hyperventilate as the room seemed to close in around him.
Morgan looked around the tiny room and felt his heart flutter.
“It’s okay. We’re safe here... it’s okay.”
Morgan pulled him in, wrapping his arms around Reid’s body, trying to anchor him. Reid clung to him, his fingers dug into Morgan’s back, his breath stuttering.
“You’re with me.” Morgan whispered. “You’re not alone.”
