Dante was usually the one being clingy in his relationship with Vergil. He had grown used to it. At least until the day Vergil got hit by a particular type of pollen during a job.
Or just an excuse to write Vergil being a big sap for Dante. Vergil might be slightly ooc for plot purposes

"You smell incredible," Vergil murmured, which was out of the blue for him. His hand slid to Dante's waist, fingers digging in possessively. “Did you put something on?”
