"San Lang," Xie Lian says, hugging him from behind. Gently, he rubs his cheek against Hua Cheng’s back, scent-marking him. "You’re more nervous than I am. I know you’ll take good care of me."
"I just worry," Hua Cheng says, turning around in Xie Lian’s embrace. He nuzzles at Xie Lian’s neck, nipping at their mating bite. "I couldn’t find records of anyone having their first rut after so long. I don’t know how hard it’ll hit you."
Xie Lian is about to have his first rut after 800 years, triggered by the consummation of his and Hua Cheng’s marriage. Hua Cheng is ready to help him through it.
