She looked forlornly at the empty peel, turning it as if searching for any last hidden fruit. The look on her face caused two fully grown pirate bounty hunters in the row across the aisle from her to briefly consider hunting down a banana instead.
Bepo made a small noise, his face stricken. “She looks so sad.”
“Do they sell bananas here?” Shachi asked, halfway out of his seat already.
“Sit down,” Law ordered. “You’re not buying a banana for a stranger.”
“But, Captain,” Penguin objected. “Look at her.”
“Leave the banana girl alone,” he said.
She does not lie. Law does not trust.
It should make them impossible, but after Sabaody, the Heart Pirates, and a world wider than any lab could measure, she begins to learn what it means to belong without being trapped.
